The band program at Lake Region High School offers students who have learned a wind or percussion instrument the opportunity to learn more about music through the study and performance of wind band literature. Each class also covers a wide range of knowledge and skill based units designed to cover music history, music theory, performance fundamentals, and large and small ensemble skills which culminate in a complete musical experience.

SOT Marching Band
The highly respected Sound of Thunder Marching Band program teaches students fundamental marching techniques, musicianship, and showmanship.
This year's show is the music of the rock group Queen inluding the songs "We Will Rock You" and "Bohemain Rhapsody". This energy filled show was made unique by an attention grabbing ten drummer floor tom visual, an outstanding trumpet solo, and a three piece sideline rock band including drumset, bass guitar, electric guitar, and a solo vocalist. The Sound of Thunder Marching Band received straight Superiors at FBA this year.
