1. How much does the construction of the buiding cost?
The cost of the building is approximately 6 million dollars.
2. When are you planning to have the building open and functional?
We are planning to open the next school year with the building up and running. The construction company is working 6 days a week on 10-12 hour shfits.
Once the new foundation is poured, the building will start to rise quickly.
3. What will be in the new building?
The new building will house the 9th grade center in additon to other classes.
4. Are there any other plans for construction at LRHS?
There are no other construction plans at Lake Region.
5. Do you forsee any convience problems with the construction?
The only problems will be when the connections are made to the sewer, water, and gas lines. This digging will be done during Winter Break and hopefully no major problems will arise. The school will be better organized since the portables will be going away. Thunder will return after the digging is completed. We have to redirect traffic out front but everyone is used to that now.
6. Explain why the funding for this building could not go towards classroom supplies or program funding.
The money for the building was already earmarked before the impending budget cuts. There are certain categories of funding which must be spent in certain areas. This is one of those areas. This money could not be spent for salaries, supplies, or things like that.
7. What are your plans for the classrooms in the new building and the staff that will need to supply them?
All 9th grade academic classes will be in the new building. Basically, any classroom that is a portable will be in the new building or in the main building. There will be an office for administration. Teachers will have planning areas.
