We are privileged once again to host the Polk County Guitar Solo and Ensemble Festival at LakeRegionHigh School. This year's event will be this Friday, May 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in our auditorium.

This year's clinician is the prestigious solo artist and instructor, Rafael Padron. Mr. Padron has won top prizes in many national and international competitions including those in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Spain, and Austria as well as being the winner of the Cultural Art Center Recital Series Competitions in the United States. He graduated from the Peabody Conservatory at JohnsHopkinsUniversity where he completed his Graduate Performance Diploma on a full scholarship under the tutelage of world-renowned guitarist Manuel Barrueco. Presently, Mr. Padron is part of the faculty at the Miami Conservatory of Music at the University of Miami.

We are excited to have the opportunity for Lake Region guitar orchestra members to perform for this guitar master not only in the Polk County Guitar Solo and Ensemble Festival but also in a master class situation later in the day at All Saints Academy. Jessica Floyd and James Van Druten will represent LRHS in the master classes by presenting Andrew York’s Waiting for Dawn and Gaspar Sanz’s Pavanas con Partidas al Aire Espanol, respectively.

Mr. Padron will be in concert at the All Saints Academy Recital Hall on Saturday, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 at the door.
